We commission against one word each quarter. Know the magazine before you pitch it.

Send a paragraph
Tell us the story, why now and why you. Two hundred words is plenty; please don’t send a draft.

We reply in two weeks
If you haven’t heard by then, the answer is no for this issue — but please try again.

We pay on publication
Within 30 days, at the rates above. You keep the rights after six months.

How do I pitch a story?
Read an issue first, then send one paragraph: the story, why now and why you. We commission against the theme of the next issue.
Do you pay contributors?
Always. We pay €0.50 per word for features, €300 for Field Notes and €250 for recipes, within 30 days of publication.
How long until I hear back?
Two weeks. If you haven’t heard from us by then, the answer is no for this issue — but please pitch again.
